What is Clarabea?

Clarabea Cards is a division of Yeetown. The cards are designed for those who have lost a baby. The line was inspired by Melissa Ashbaugh, who lost her baby in December 2006. Melissa wrote individual messages for each card and was instrumental in the visual presentation of each design, including creating with her hand the trademark footprint on every handmade greeting card. We thank Melissa, a brave women and loving mother, for her idea and for her vision.

In Melissa's words

Losing our first child when I was 22 weeks pregnant was devasting, and the year following was an extremely difficult time. Especially difficult was that first Mother's Day. I felt I deserved recognition as a mother because I had, after all concieved and carried a child. The only difference was that my little girl ended up in heaven instead of in my arms.

I searched high and low for cards to acknowledge mothers like myself and what we had been through, but found the market for these types of cards lacking. I wanted cards filled with words to mend my broken heart and to acknowledge my loss as a mother, but turned up basically empty handed. With help from my sister and her company Yeetown, I wrote the words myself, my sister created designs and Clarabea Cards was created.

Clarabea Cards honor mothers and the angels they have lost, and were created with my lost daughter Clara Beatrice in mind. Clara has been in God's nursery since December 2006 and is still missed everyday. My hope is that Clarabea Cards will honor and console the many mothers who have lost an angel as well, and can help give words to the friends and family of these mothers when they are hard to come by at such a difficult time. While losing Clara was the most difficult challenge of my life, my experience can now help others and for that I feel thankful.
